3 years ago I suffered an anoxic brain injury
I was not expected to regain any motor skills. At first I could not sit up or feed myself.
After months of therapy I was able to regain some of the daily activities to take care of
myself. I enjoyed art prior to my anoxic brain injury in July of 2005.
I was unable to even hold a pencil but since then have developed my skills to color and
write my name. Part of my development came from doing these pictures. It helped me regain
some fine motor skills as well as create a beautiful piece of art. Even though I did not draw
it, I selected the colors and did some original art to make it look like stained glass.
My favorites are the crosses. Some days it was very hard for me to concentrate and manage
the fine lines, I think that is one of the reasons I am so proud of them. The art not only
helps me to improve my motor skills and sharpen my concentration, it helps me to express my
feelings at the time.
The following pieces will be up for bid at P&A's benefit on April 25th: (Click on pictures to enlarge)
Celestial Visions:I love the bright colors and this is how I picture the celestial system. 16in X 20in/Markers

Floral Cross:Done during my days of trying to regain my fine motor skills in my hands. Thought went into the colors. I was trying to create a piece that looks like stained glass that you find in churches.
