P&A's goal is to advance voting rights of South Carolinians with disabilities!
The Protection and Advocacy for Voting Access program represents Protection and Advocacy for People with Disabilities' role in the 2002 Help America Vote Act (HAVA). HAVA was inspired by the 2000 Presidential Election Recount and aims to make voting easier and more accessible for everyone across the country, specifically people with disabilities.

Polling Place Survey Accessibility Results!
P&A recieved
389 (378 when detailed table was generated) surveys from 42 counties after the November 2006
general election. P&A appreciates everyone's help. Due to P&A's
advocacy efforts, polling places were more accessible in the 2006
general
election than the 2004 general election. Areas that still need
focus are inoperable door handles,
increased van accessible parking spaces, and curb-side voting
instructions.
