Outreach, Information & Referral Team

(OI&R Team)
This team provides information about Protection and Advocacy for People with Disabilities, Inc. (P&A) to rural and minority persons with disabilities. This team provides resource advocacy services to people with disabilities throughout the state of South Carolina. They receive inquiries by email, telephone or letters and respond to the problems or issues presented. This team of professional advocates provides advice, mails information and may make referrals to appropriate agencies or organizations. The OI&R team provides the first contact for inquiries to P&A. If the issues presented meet certain eligibility criteria, OI&R refers the issues to the four issue teams (Protection and Independence, Equal Access, and Free & Appropriate Public Education) for possible case representation.

Outreach strategies assure full participation in P&A services for people with disabilities who are of rural or ethnic minority cultures. Protection and Advocacy for People with Disabilities, Inc. (P&A) is a resource where individuals in South Carolina obtain quality information and referral about disability rights, enabling people with disabilities to be effective self-advocates.
